ROAD CLOSURES IN THE CHILLINGHAM AREA

There seem to be quite a lot of road improvements planned for the Chillingham area over the next few weeks. Although that is no bad thing as the roads could do with some attention, it is a bit of a worry from our point of view. It is very difficult for us to delay a tour if people get delayed by road closures. We will likely have other guests awaiting the tour and it has a knock on affect for the rest of the day.
At present, the road from the A1 over the hills via North Charlton and Ros Castle is closed for upgrading. The work is taking place near the A1 so Ros Castle is still accesible from Chillingham.
On the 7th May the road running past Chillingham Newtown Farm will be closed. There will be a diversion going round via Chatton. If coming from the A697, please allow an additional 10 minutes.
Speaking of the A697, various sections will be closed later in May. It should be pretty simple to cut through to Chillingham but do have Satnav to hand.
Please be aware of possible closures and allow a little extra time.
