NEW ADDITION TO WILDING WOODS

Ellie has been very busy over the last few months developing her Wilding Woods wood school area just behind the Pavilion. Good as it was, it did have one downside – the weather! Like all outdoor learning areas, activities could be curtailed if it turned wet. Although we do have the benefit of the covered veranda back at the Pavilion, it was not quite the same experience.
Ellie deduced that the solution was a temporary shelter that could be erected over the firepit area when required. The Board agreed that this was a sensible way to enhance the outdoor learning facilities at Chillingham. It did not take Ellie long to find Stuart of Just Grow Forest School Ltd, which is based in Lancashire. By luck, he had some other work scheduled in the North East and he was on site very quickly to install the supporting poles and wires.
Ellie and Rick can now erect and dismantle the tarpaulin cover in about three minutes and the tarpaulin is securely stored on site. So now learning activities and birthday parties can carry on in the woods in less than perfect weather without everybody getting wet. It is another great addition to the learning experience at Chillingham and we are not done yet……….
