Home-Education Groups

Tuesday Afternoons

Sessions designed to give children the time, space, and freedom to learn through nature, play, and purposeful projects.

Our Home-ed sessions take place in Wildling Woods, our purpose-built woodland learning space, and follow Forest School principles – child-led exploration, hands-on learning, and meaningful connections with the natural world.

These groups have been created with home-educating and flexi-schooling families in mind, but are open to all children aged 2–11 who would benefit from longer outdoor sessions.

📍 Location
Chillingham Wild Cattle Park, NE66 5NP

Session Details

  • Ages: 2–11 years

  • Block length: 6 weeks

All children must be accompanied by an adult (maximum 5 children per adult).

What to Expect

Our home-ed sessions usually follow the structure of a group activity for the first half of the session, followed by free-play for the second half of the session. We occasionally go a bit further afield to visit the Wild Cattle or to go on nature walks.

  • child-led exploration
  • woodland play and den building
  • seasonal crafts and practical skills
  • group games and social time

These longer sessions allow children to build friendships and grow in confidence at their own pace. Grown-ups stay with their children and are encouraged to get involved, making it a shared learning experience.

Snacks and drinks are included.

  • Full details (including what to bring and where to meet) will be emailed after booking
  • A short form will be sent out ahead of the block to gather essential information about your child

Accessibility at Wildling Woods

To reach Wildling Woods, there is a short but noticeable slope up from the Wild Cattle Pavilion. Most families manage this without difficulty, but it’s helpful to be aware before booking. Some sessions may also include short walks further afield.

If you or your child have any mobility considerations, big or small, please get in touch before the block begins. We’re very happy to talk it through and can provide photos of the access path so you can decide whether the site is right for you.

Your comfort and safety are really important to us, and we’ll do our best to ensure everyone feels welcome and supported.
