Join us for a buzzing good time in our Pollinator Workshop, especially for children aged 5 to 10!

This exciting 3-hour adventure, led by our knowledgeable park wardens, is all about discovering the amazing world of pollinators and learning how we can help these vital creatures. Pollinators, such as bees, butterflies, and other insects, play a crucial role in our environment by helping plants grow and produce the food we eat.

Our workshop kicks off with a fun, hands-on session where each child will get to make their very own bee drinker and bee hotel to take home. These simple but important crafts will provide much-needed water and shelter for bees, helping to support local pollinator populations. As the children work on their creations, the park wardens will share fascinating facts about different types of pollinators and why they are so important to our ecosystem.

Next, wbee drinker made with upcycled materialse’ll hop on a trailer for an exciting ride through the woods. The park wardens will point out various plants and habitats along the way, and we’ll keep our eyes peeled for any pollinators that might be buzzing around. This is a great opportunity for the children to see first hand where pollinators live and work in the wild.

The adventure continues with a guided walk and talk in Chillingham Wild Cattle Park! We’ll explore beautiful unimproved pasture and learn how these flowers attract and support pollinators. The park wardens will teach the children how to identify different wildflowers and the types of pollinators that visit them. It’s a wonderful chance to connect with nature and understand the important relationships between plants and insects. We’ll also talk about the world famous Chillingham Wild Cattle and how their daily habits affect the pollinators!

By the end of the workshop, the children will have gained a deeper appreciation for pollinators and the vital role they play in our world. They’ll leave with practical knowledge and handmade projects to help support pollinators right in their own backyards.
