Visitor Facilities at the Park

In recent years, it is fair to say that facilities at the Park have been rather limited. From 2022, this is no longer the case! Gone is the old Bandstand:

Gone is the old Hut:

In their place is the brand new Wild Cattle Pavilion:

CHILLINGHAM WILD CATTLE PAVILION

This project was part funded by The European Agriculture Fund for Rural Development.
Europe: Investing in Rural Areas.

The design of the Pavilion is based on that of the building that first sat on the site and is depicted in a postcard of 1910. The building behind the veranda contains proper lavatory facilities, suitable for the less abled, as well as a new gift shop, which also sells coffee and light refreshments.

The new Pavilion allows us to entertain much larger groups than we could before. It is ideal for educational visits and other group visits. In August 2022, we were fortunate enough to be able to entertain 52 displaced Ukrainians, something that we could never have done in the old hut!

The storms of the 2021/22 winter removed many of the feature trees in the immediate area. But this has had a benefit. The sun now streams onto the Pavilion, making it a lovely spot to sit and contemplate.
